Harmony 1,2&3
To equip students with various re-harmonisation techniques through a series of assignments/exercises in order to bring new/fresh chords to familiar songs. With these techniques the student will be able to achieve a “lounge” jazz type of harmony. A must for classically trained piano/guitar students/teachers. This is a theory class.
Level 1
Fee:

Content:
Diatonic harmony – seventh chords, tri-tone, nomenclature, available tensions, modes, voice leading principles, cadences, diatonic re-harmonization techniques
Pre-requisite:
1 year playing experience or some music theory knowledge.

Level 2
Fee:

Duration:
4 sessions, 2hours a session
Content:
Review of diatonic harmony, Secondary and extended dominants, II-V and dual function II's, Modal interchange, Blues form and harmony, Voicings for piano and guitar.
Pre-requisite:
Harmony (Diatonic), or a complete understanding of diatonic harmony of Grade 5 theory or equivalent.

4 sessions, 2hours a session
Content:
Review of harmony 2, Standard dominant deceptive resolutions, Substitute dominant chords, Substitute dominant chords related II's, Extended substitute dominants, Modulations, Diminish seventh chords, Compound chords.

Harmony level 2.

Learning your keyboard sequencer's function to compose or arrange a song

MIDI programming level 1 and music arranging knowledge, basic keyboard playing.

Learning to use Cakewalk for MIDI sequencing
